247Sports believes the Tennessee Vols have a rising star on the defensive side of the ball.

The national sports publication recently named 22 players to watch this season in college football and they listed Vols edge rusher Byron Young as one of their "rising stars".

From 247Sports:

Byron Young racked up 46 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in 11 games for the Volunteers last season as a JUCO transfer, but promises his second campaign at Tennessee will be "10 times better" than his last. Insiders are saying the same and pinpointed Young as one of the program's most-improved players this spring.

"Now, I can focus on working on my craft and my technique," Young said earlier this spring. "Before, I had to learn the plays and everything, learn the whole defense, get to know everybody. But it’s now way more easier. I’m way more confident and just settling down and just going through the motions and getting everything done.”

If 247Sports is correct and Young turns into a star this season, it will be absolutely huge for the Vols in 2022.

There's no substitute for getting after the quarterback. Winning the line of scrimmage and impacting the passing game is one of the key ingredients to winning in the SEC.

Young has the talent and abilities to be a dominant force for Tennessee. He showed flashes of it last season. If he improves like he says he's going to, it could make for a long season for the quarterbacks in the SEC East.
