How the AP Top 25 should actually look after week one

The new college football AP Top 25 poll was released on Tuesday afternoon and there was quite a bit of movement.
LSU dropped out of the top 25 after their loss to the UCLA Bruins on Saturday night.
Georgia jumped to No. 2 after beating Clemson, while the Tigers fell to No. 6. This is the first time Clemson has been outside of the top four since 2017.
North Carolina was No. 10 in the preseason AP Top 25, but they fell to No. 24 after their loss to Virginia Tech.
Despite the movement in the polls, I don't think this is how the AP Top 25 should actually look. There's too much emphasis on preseason rankings, which are based on nothing but expectations.
(I'm an advocate of no rankings until after the first week of the season.)
Here's how I'd have the top 25 after week one.
- Alabama
- Georgia
- Ohio State
- Texas A&M
- Oklahoma
- UCLA
- Clemson
- Iowa
- Penn State
- Notre Dame
- Ole Miss
- Cincinnati
- USC
- Texas
- Oregon
- Iowa State
- Florida
- Virginia Tech
- Arizona State
- Utah
- Auburn
- Coastal Carolina
- Boston College
- TCU
- Liberty
I'm a firm believer that there should be drastic movement in the polls during the first couple of weeks. Why is North Carolina still ranked after losing to Virginia Tech? What have they done to deserve that ranking? Similarly, why isn't Ole Miss ranked higher after completely dominating Louisville on Monday night?
There needs to be more movement early in the season as we learn what version of these teams we're getting this season.
