2026 Dallas Cowboys Practice Squad Tracker: Every signing, including players who could be elevated Week 1
After setting their initial 53-man roster, it’s time to look at the Dallas Cowboys building their practice squad.
With Monday’s waiver wire cycle in the rearview mirror, it’s time for the Dallas Cowboys to build their 17-man practice squad. NFL rules allow for a 16-man practice squad, but a 17th player might be listed as part of the International Player Pathway.
We will update the tracker below as the Cowboys make more moves. I will also make a separate list for players I would expect to be call-up candidates early on.

Players who could be elevated Week 1
- LB Justin Barron: The Cowboys could look at Barron for additional help on special teams if needed. Especially as new players like RB Emari Demercado get familiar with the team.
- RB Israel Abanikanda: After the Cowboys acquired Demercado, it might be a challenge to see Abanikanda be called up. But the Cowboys are thin at RB and he could be a solid option while Demercado catches up on the offense.
