The Texas Longhorns, along with the Oklahoma Sooners, are leaving the Big 12 for the SEC.
Texas and Oklahoma will become official members of the SEC starting in 2025.
Joining the SEC comes with numerous benefits. Better competition, preferable television placement, and greater cash flow.
An unintended "benefit" that Texas and Oklahoma will receive is the occasional quip from legendary former SEC head coach Steve Spurrier, who is well known for taking shots at any program not named Duke, South Carolina, or Florida.

Earlier this week, Spurrier, who was born with the splendid gift of repartee, joined The Paul Finebaum Show to discuss Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC.
And in typical Spurrier fashion, he had a witty remark ready to go.
“It made sense for (Texas). If you’re going to struggle in the Big 12, you might as well struggle in the SEC. Can’t do any worse,” cracked Spurrier.
Spurrier went a little easier on Oklahoma.
“Oklahoma, as we all know, it’s a rich football tradition university. Their fans want LSU and Alabama,” said Spurrier.
The Longhorns will probably be the focus of plenty of one-liners from Spurrier in the coming years. They might as well get ready for it.
By the way, I can't wait to see Spurrier's comments when Tennessee and Texas play — I'm sure there will be some "real UT" jokes made by the Head Ball Coach.
