There's a long way to go until the 2023 NFL Draft, but there's no rule that says it's too early to speculate about who the Tennessee Titans could select in the first round.

Pro Football Network, in fact, recently used data from mock draft simulations to see which player has been most often linked to the Titans in early mock drafts.

18 percent of Pro Football Network's mock draft simulations have Tennessee landing Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer.

From PFN:

Another tight end heads to Tennessee as draft simulator users are pegging Notre Dame TE Michael Mayer on nearly 18% of their picks. Mayer transcends the position as he plays all three facets on offense to an elite or near-elite level. What separates him, however, is his ability in the receiving game, where he’s a master of his craft.

It's far too early to know whether or not the Titans will have a legitimate shot to land Mayer in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. We don't know how the 2022 season will impact Mayer's draft stock. And we have no idea where the Titans will be drafting.

But it makes sense that Mayer is a name being connected to Tennessee early on.

There's no doubt the Titans could use a franchise tight end. Tennessee hasn't really had a guy like that since Delanie Walker.

Mayer has the opportunity to be that type of player in the NFL. He's a complete tight end who can run block, pass block, and make plays as a receiver. The Kentucky native, who grew up just four hours away from Nashville, would be a perfect fit with the Titans.
