The Titans search for safety depth continues with the team adding Ugo Amadi in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday.
It’s been a whirlwind of a week and a half for the former John Overton High School standout.
After spending his first three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, he was dealt to Philadelphia on August 15. Just 10 days later he lands with his hometown team in the Titans.
Amadi was selected by the Seahawks in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played in 47 games during his stint in Seattle making 12 starts, recording one interception and six TFLs.
For what Amadi lacks in height at five-foot-nine he makes up for in athleticism. Typically featured at free safety, the former Oregon Duck also has experience playing on special teams.
The move makes sense for Tennessee, who also acquire a 2024 seventh-round pick from Philadelphia in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick.
A.J. Moore and Josh Kalu currently sit behind Kevin Byard on the depth chart, but Amadi will have an opportunity to leapfrog them both.
If the Titans have learned one thing in the Jon Robinson era it’s that you can never have too many defensive backs.
