The NFL Draft is just nine days away for the Tennessee Titans. We see mock drafts and predictions all the time, but you never truly know how a prospect will pan out in the NFL.
You never know when you will land that decent, late-round value pick.
The Titans have had their fair share of those, especially in the Jon Robinson era. There are some late-round (or even undrafted) under-the-radar picks that turned out to be studs for the Titans back in the day, though.
However, some of them flew under the radar for most of their career. Let's take a look at three.
WR DERRICK MASON
If you're a Tennessee Titans fan, you probably dislike the Baltimore Ravens. So, the only downside to Mason is that he also played with said Ravens.
Mason had four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in Tennessee before being let go due to cap issues. He then went on to have three more 1,000-yard campaigns with the Baltimore Ravens.
In total, the fourth-round pick in 1997 finished fourth in receiving yards from 2000-2009.
Mason is definitely one of the more underrated Tennessee Titans. It sucks that his Titans career was cut short due to cap casualties.
WR DREW BENNETT
Bennett wasn't a draft pick for the Tennessee Titans. Instead, he was an undrafted free agent pick-up in 2001.
He's another example of an NFL player going from undrafted to a valuable player on an NFL roster.
He did well beside Derrick Mason from 2001-2004 and was decent when he was the main target in 2005 and 2006. He never got to 1,000 yards as the primary receiver, but he did reach that milestone in 2004.
Bennett had 4,033 receiving yards as a Titan with 25 touchdowns. He played nicely as the receiver opposite of Mason back then, much like Corey Davis did for A.J. Brown in 2019 and 2020.
He is a player many long-time Titans fans cherish, but not many outside of the Titans fan group know of him.
JASON MCCOURTY
Jason McCourty is a more recent draft pick. McCourty spent a lot of time with the Tennessee Titans after being selected in the 6th round of the 2009 draft.
McCourty spent his time with Tennessee in their rebuilding days. He didn't see a single playoff game in Tennessee but was consistently the top corner on the team.
McCourty played in 108 games with Tennessee and had 30 pass breakups, 13 interceptions, and 508 tackles.
McCourty doesn't have any Pro Bowls or First-Team All-Pros on his resume as a Titan. However, that doesn't change the fact that McCourty was an underrated piece to the Titans' defense for years.
There are plenty more players we can add to this list. But these are the ones that stand out the most. Let's see who can be the latest late-round player to come in and put together a decent career with the Tennessee Titans.
