Titans fans have been a bit irritable ever since the team was eliminated from the playoffs in gut-wrenching fashion. This offseason has been filled with ups and downs, though the lows have outnumbered the highs. There is new data that has come available, showing that Titans fans have had one of the most negative offseasons of all 32 fanbases in the NFL.
How It Works
Using Linkfluence’s intel, betway has compiled data to find out which fanbases have posted the most positive posts across social media since the season ended.
This data derives from social media posts engaging with the team's social media account on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok. The fanbases with the highest percent likability are the most positive and vice versa.
Titans Toxicity
It should come as no surprise that the Titans’ fanbase checks in at No. 26. Many fans have still not forgiven Ryan Tannehill’s three-interception performance in the AFC Divisional Round loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
However, Titans fans were injected with a shot of dopamine after the team hired former Houston Texans offensive coordinator Tim Kelly. Next, Tennessee traded for WR Robert Woods to give Tannehill a weapon to pair with A.J. Brown.
So they thought.
The optimism from those moves wouldn’t last past the first day of the 2022 NFL Draft.
There was no way to prepare for the relationship between the Titans and Brown to completely deteriorate. The draft day trade that sent Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles cast a dark cloud over the team’s outlook for the 2022 season.
Though Tennessee moved up to select WR Treylon Burks, Titans fans were not able to enjoy adding one of the draft’s most sought after pass catchers. Local radio shows, social media posts, and national media outlets spent the following weeks questioning the move.
Everybody Else
When looking at this list I found that most of the rankings made sense with the exception of a few surprises.
The Bears being at the top of the list isn’t that shocking considering they finally fired head coach Matt Nagy, who was criticized for holding Justin Fields back in his development. Bears fans haven’t had much to cheer about since the Jay Cutler era, so they can find solace in the small victories.
The Ravens, Packers, Patriots, and Saints are franchises with winning tradition, and at least one Super Bowl victory each within the past 11 seasons. Those fanbases have good reason to be chipper.
The back end of these rankings should give Titans fans joy. There are much worse franchises to support, who have absolutely zero hope for the foreseeable future.
The Commanders, Jaguars, Vikings, Cardinals and Panthers have made a tradition out of torturing their respective fanbases for the better part of a decade.
Buffalo at No. 27 is a bit of a head scratcher, but that could be due to the fact that most of their fans have to live in Buffalo, NY. That alone is cause for a negative attitude.
Whether you agree or disagree this particular list is, at the very least, interesting. If you have spent any time on social media since the middle of January, it has been impossible to ignore the negativity and toxicity of Titans Twitter and Titans Facebook.
This has been one of the most disappointing offseasons in franchise history, but it should not be lost on the fans that the Titans still have a great shot at winning the AFC South for the third consecutive season. Hang in there, Titans fans. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
