Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow isn't likely to start a trash-talking war on the field, but he'll finish one if someone else starts it.
The former LSU star appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday and he was asked if he ever engages in trash talk with opponents.
Burrow said he doesn't seek it out, but he'll finish it if he can.
"I never start it, but I try to finish it when I can," said Burrow. "I'm not going to go out in the first quarter and start talking a bunch of trash and trying to get guys riled up. But if someone says something to me, then I'll be talking back the whole game."
McAfee then asked if Burrow would ever get "personal" with trash talk, with elicited a hilarious response from the Bengals quarterback.
"No, I would never get, well, I would never say never — you never know," said a grinning Burrow. "Whatever comes to mind, you know how trash talk is. Whatever you want to say, you say it. Whatever."
Burrow then said he wants to get to the point where players are afraid to talk trash to him.
"I would like to get to that point where people are scared to talk to me," said Burrow. "Tom (Brady) is like that. Aaron (Rodgers) is like that. I'm sure Patrick (Mahomes) is like that…I'd love to rise to that level at some point. Maybe some of the teams I've played so far have regretted what they've said."
Not only is Burrow one of the fiercest competitors in the NFL, but he's also quickly becoming one of the best interviewees in the NFL.
By the way, I'm guessing the Baltimore Ravens — a team Burrow torched twice last season — is the team he's talking about that might regret talking to trash to him.
