The Cincinnati Bengals will be opening their regular season wearing their alternative orange jerseys once again.

“Open In Orange” is now in Year 3, and the Bengals have unveiled their official uniform combo for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Cincinnati will wear its orange jerseys, white pants with orange stripes, and orange socks.

Bengals go with winning uniform combo from last year

The Bengals had three options to choose from. They could’ve worn their white pants with orange stripes, black pants with orange stripes, or orange pants with black stripes.

They chose the white pants for a couple reasons, but the main being to repeat last year’s success.

Cincinnati wore this exact uniform in its home opener last season against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was the same game in which quarterback Joe Burrow suffered his turf toe injury, but the Bengals won the game, 31-27.

A decision was made before that contest to deviate away from the uniform worn in the first “Open In Orange” game back in 2024. Cincy wore its all-orange combo for the first time in franchise history against the New England Patriots in Week 1 of 2024. The game was an utter mess for the Home team, and the Pats won, 16-10.

That game alone ruined the reputation of the all orange look, and in part, the fan support of the orange pants.

We may never see the Bengals’ orange jersey with orange pants again

To tease Sunday’s uniform combo, the Bengals’ Tik Tok account revealed the orange pants would not be worn, acknowledging their lack of popularity.

Cincinnati is opting for a combo that has seen a win in this environment, will also appeasing the fans in the process. There’s also an argument that white pants are better for the players when it is hot outside. The expected high temperature for Sunday is 85 degrees.

But this is really about doing away with a failed experiment. The Bengals will still wear their orange pants with their standard black and white jerseys as they have experienced victories wearing those combos, but they all orange look is more than likely dead.
