The Cincinnati Bengals played one really good half of football and one not-so-good half of football on Saturday against the New England Patriots.
That one good half, however, was enough for the Bengals to secure a 22-18 win.
Immediately after Cincinnati's win, I noticed quite a few Bengals fans on social media wondering out loud if they should be concerned about the poor second-half play.
I get it — the Bengals nearly blew the game.
But they didn't. And that's what Cincy fans need to focus on.
Winning on the road in the NFL — especially in New England — isn't easy.
And winning in ridiculously frigid weather is even tougher.
The Bengals were far from perfect, but at the end of the day, they found a way to leave Foxborough with their 11th win of the season.
Cincinnati has now won seven games in a row and they can clinch the AFC North division title next week with a win against the Buffalo Bills and a loss by the Baltimore Ravens.
Will the Bengals need to be better in the playoffs?
Of course.
But what happened on Saturday against the Patriots has nothing to do with how Cincinnati will perform in the playoffs. All that matters is that Cincy got a win on the road in less-than-ideal conditions.
Saturday's cold temperatures were challenging for everyone. And only half the league went home with a win. The Bengals were one of those teams. And I'm guessing they don't really care how ugly the win was — they're just happy to have the W.
