Despite the Tennessee Titans dropping their season opener, Jeffery Simmons still found a way to crash the statistical stratosphere in Week One.

The star defensive lineman was disruptive against the New York Giants, finishing with six total tackles — two of which were for losses — two sacks, and a forced fumble.

The performance lauded praise from fans and watchers from afar. But those weren't the only groups of avid football devotees that came away impressed with Simmons' season opening exhibit.

Pro Football Focusreleased their top graded players from Week One and Simmons made the list with a 93.0 grade. If that wasn't enough, Pro Football Focus also released their list that detailed the top five players according to pass rush win rate from Week One. As you can probably tell by the tone, Simmons also made this list as well, coming in fifth place.

Yes, Simmons' performance holds the most weight, but the biggest takeaway in this specific context is the fact that Simmons made this list that is comprised of edge rushers. Simmons is an interior guy and his position/role typically doesn't showcase the pass rushing prowess that edge rushers possess.

That's how good he was in Week 1. He was good enough to show up at the top of a list that just about all interior defenders don't -and shouldn't- make.

Unless they're special like Simmons, of course.

For the Titans' sake, they better hope Simmons continues to not only maintain this level of play, but to also consistently showcase for the better part of a 17 game schedule.

Because this defense will need him moving forward if they want to keep up with the rest of the AFC. Which in case you didn't know, is set to have some of the best depth the conference has ever seen.
