Cleveland Browns cornerback Greg Newsome tried to talk a little trash this week about Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase.
But it didn't go over quite as he expected.
Newsome told reporters (via Jake Trotter/Twitter) that he was "pissed" when he heard about Chase's injury (a hip injury that's expected to sideline the star wide receiver for four to six weeks).
The reason?
Because Newsome said he was looking forward to the matchup.
It's easy for Newsome to say something like this when he knows that Chase won't be standing across from him on Monday night.
Chase is a top-five receiver in the NFL. There aren't many cornerbacks who can keep up with him.
Newsome is a promising young player, but he's not on the same level as Chase. And he likely would've learned that the hard way on Monday night had Chase not been ruled out for the game already.
