The Florida Gators should fire Dan Mullen after a ridiculous comment he made on Monday.
Mullen, who was speaking to reporters on Monday after Florida's 34-7 loss to Georgia this past weekend, made a comment about recruiting that might be the most asinine comment I've ever heard a Florida head coach make (that's saying a lot considering I've listened to a lot of Steve Spurrier press conferences).
The fourth-year Gators head coach was responding to a question about recruiting when he essentially said he's not all that worried about recruiting in-season.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of college football. It's where championships are won and lost.
It's something that has to be on a head coach's mind 24/7 (film review, texts, phone calls, etc).
Mullen hasn't recruited well since arriving at Florida, so it's not totally a surprise that he made this comment.
(It should be noted that Mullen currently has a one-year show-cause penalty and he can't recruit off campus.)
However, what makes this comment look so bad is that it comes on the heels of Georgia head coach Kirby Smart's recent comments about the importance of recruiting.
“If you don’t recruit, there’s no coach out there that can out-coach recruiting,” said Smart after beating Florida (via Dawg Nation). “I don’t care who you are. The best coach to ever play the game better be a good recruiter because no coaching is going to out-coach players. Anybody will tell you that our defense is good because we have good players.”
Smart is a tenacious recruiter. Mullen is a tepid recruiter….at best.
And that's why Georgia is the best team in the country right now and Florida is outside the top 25.
Mullen is in Ron Zook territory right now and it's largely because he's not routinely bringing elite players to Gainesville.
It's hard to imagine Mullen surviving at Florida.
