The Tennessee Vols signed 21 players during the early signing period, and they've added three transfers, so it's unclear how many players they will sign next week on National Signing Day.
But while we aren't sure exactly how many players Jeremy Pruitt and his staff are looking to add on February 5, they're at least looking to sign a couple.
One of the players the Vols hope to land is four-star athlete Dee Beckwith, a 6-foot-4/215 lb recruit from Florence, AL.
Beckwith is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 14 player in the state of Alabama and the No. 19 athlete in the nation.
The Florida Gators are UT's main competition for the dynamic athlete.
And while there's no denying Florida's recruiting power under Dan Mullen (UF has the No. 8 recruiting class in the nation), the Vols might actually have the edge for Beckwith.
It sounds like Beckwith likes both schools almost equally.
Distance might actually be the determining factor. Beckwith told Rivals earlier this month that Tennessee being closer to his hometown was a major plus, saying "That’s good for my parents too because they could come watch me more often because it’s only four hours instead of 8 or 9".
(It's worth noting, by the way, that Cam Beckwith, Dee's brother, committed to Tennessee as a preferred walk on.)
Beckwith isn't going to make his final decision until National Signing Day. And he said he's going to go with his gut.
If everything else is equal, there's a good chance that Tennessee could win the tiebreaker simply because of the long distance between Florence and Gainesville.
