The Tennessee Vols didn't have a single player selected in the 2019 NFL Draft this past April.

It was the third time in five years that no NFL team took a former Vol.

That pretty much tells you all you need to know about Tennessee's tailspin in recent years.

In the next several years, thanks to Jeremy Pruitt's recruiting efforts, we'll likely see a reverse in this draft trend. I'd expect to hear the names of former UT players called during the draft on a regular basis.

While we probably won't be a plethora of former Vols drafted in 2020, there will be at least one selected — at least according to NFL draft analyst Dane Brugler of The Athletic.

Brugler has senior linebacker Darrell Taylor among his pre-season top 50 2020 draft selections.

The dynamic pass rusher comes in at No. 33 on Brugler's list.

Here's what he has to say about Taylor:

Although he is missing a power move in his arsenal, Taylor is very skilled at turning the corner and accelerating to the quarterback. His eight sacks as a junior led the Volunteers and are the most of any returning player in the SEC.

Taylor obviously had a solid first season under Pruitt, there's no denying that. But fans should be excited to see what Taylor does in 2019 after a full year under Pruitt and in Craig Fitzgerald's strength program. Taylor still has a lot of room to grow as a player, which should excited fans.

Not a lot of folks outside of East Tennessee probably know much about Taylor. But I have a feeling he will become a household name this season (at least in SEC country).

If the Virginia native can reach 13 to 15 sacks this season, then it's certainly possible he could sneak into the end of the first round.

Not only would that mean the Vols probably had a solid 2019 season, it would also help Tennessee's recruiting efforts.

And right now, it's all about recruiting for the Vols.
