As the clock hit 0:00 on the Tennessee Vols' 2021-22 season on Saturday, UT guard Kennedy Chandler was overcome with emotion.

The true freshman from Memphis is likely heading to the NBA after this season. He has the talent to be a lottery pick and he'd be a fool to not jump at that opportunity.

But on Saturday night, Chandler was a kid that saw his dream run with the Vols come to a sudden end via a 76-68 loss to Michigan. And it was a lot for the former five-star recruit to process in the moment.

That's when Michigan head coach Juwan Howard grabbed Chandler by the shoulders and consoled him.

Howard gets it. He's been there. Howard lost two NCAA championship games at Michigan. He understands as well as anyone the hurt that Chandler was feeling in that moment.

There's also the fact that Howard knows Chandler on a personal level. His son played AAU basketball with Chandler.

Chandler played his heart out on Saturday, scoring 19 points in what was likely his final game playing for Tennessee.

While this team fell short of its ultimate goal, it's important to remember that the Vols won their first SEC Tournament Championship in 43 years. And that's something Chandler will always be a part of when it comes to Tennessee basketball.
