Tennessee Vols linebackers coach/special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler is fired up for the start of the 2022 season.
Of course, that shouldn't come as a surprise. Ekeler lives his life with a lot of energy, which means he's pretty much always fired up.
The second-year Vols assistant, however, is going to try to tone things down this year just a little.
Don't worry, Ekeler is still going to be as energetic as ever. But he's going to try to not shed blood during Tennessee's season-opener against Ball State.
Last year's season opener against Bowling Green saw Ekeler bleeding from his head after getting a little too excited on the sidelines.
I wouldn't bet on Ekeler toning it down too much. In fact, once the T opens and the players/coaches run to the sidelines, I have a feeling that Ekeler will completely forget all about bleeding from his head last season. Which means there's a good chance it happens again.
The players love the intensity that Ekeler brings 24/7. And that can be contagious. As long as Ekeler is one on the sidelines at Neyland, there will never be a shortage of energy on Tennessee's bench.
