2023 five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava committed to the Tennessee Vols last month and has quickly become one of the program's most aggressive recruiters.
Iamaleava has made it clear he wants as many talented players as possible to join him on Rocky Top.
One of those players is 2023 five-star wide receiver Carnell Tate, a 6-foot-2 wide receiver from Chicago who knows how to consistently get open.
Tate was on campus at Tennessee this weekend for a visit and he spoke to VolQuest about Nico's attempts to recruit him to UT.
Iamaleava apparently isn't afraid to call Tate in the middle of the night to sell him on Tennessee.
"Nico's always in my ear — he calls me in Cali at like 3 o'clock or 4 o'clock in the morning," said Tate. "He don't always talk about Tennessee, he asks me how I'm doing."
Tate told VolQuest that he hung out with Nico quite a bit on his visit to Tennessee this weekend, before saying that it's "very important" who a program has at quarterback (that seemingly bodes well for the Vols' chances with Tate).
Iamaleava could be the catalyst that ignites Tennessee's return to relevancy in the SEC.
It's not just Iamaleava's skills on the field (though those are impressive), it's the fact that he's inevitably going to bring some talented players with him to Knoxville — players that otherwise wouldn't be considering the Vols.
One player changing the trajectory of a program is rare, but that could absolutely be the case with Iamaleava and Tennessee.
