Sean McDermott opened up to the media about all things Buffalo Bills on Monday and there was plenty to discuss.
Among the many topics was that of All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White's return to the football field. White is still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in 2021 and hasn't played in a game since his return to practice on October 12.
Bills fans are clamoring for White's return as injuries continue to plague the team.
A quick look at the inactive list from Sunday's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings showcases the injuries in the secondary:
At this point, some are wondering if the delay with White's return has become a matter of his mental state. The physical aspect of an ACL recovery is only the beginning – it's easy to argue getting over the mental hurdles that come with it is the hardest part.
McDermott was asked about just that on Monday.
"[I'm] not going to get into physical versus mental," McDermott quickly said. "He's just not in a position where he's ready and we're going to continue to take it one day at a time."
No respectable -or smart- head coach would fall for that bait, but either way, it's still a good thing McDermott didn't bite. For obvious reasons. Starting a fire like that could easily create a disconnect between the player and the coach, which as we all know, can lead to disastrous results.
Either way, the availability of Tre White will be a welcomed addition to a struggling Bills team. Once that happens, of course.
