On Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles received an unfortunate update on a key player’s injury status.
Punter Arryn Siposs, who left Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, is out indefinitely with a lower-leg injury. Siposs took a huge hit after scooping up a blocked punt in an attempt to advance the ball.
With the Eagles now in need of a punter, it looks like they’ve already reached out to one possible replacement. Former Tennessee Titans punter Brett Kern is expected to visit with Philadelphia.
Kern has played 15 seasons in the NFL, 13 of which came in Tennessee. The 36-year-old in known for his directional abilities, habitually placing the ball inside the 20-yard line.
He has three Pro Bowls to his name and was named an All-Pro in 2019. Kern was beaten out in training camp by rookie Ryan Stonehouse, who now leads the NFL in punting average (53.4).
Kern hasn’t played this season, though he’s likely eager to make his return with a Super Bowl contender.
If all goes well, the Eagles could end up with as good of an emergency option as they could possibly hope for. Plus, everybody knows what happened the last time a former Titan made the transition to Philly.
