The Las Vegas Raiders came into the season with one huge glaring problem. We all noticed it too, as soon as the preseason started. We noticed the offensive line was awful.
Yeah, the Raiders had all the weapons to have the best offense in the league, but, they have a terrible offensive line, which you can't have if you want a great offense.
The addition of the league's best wide receiver in Davante Adams was what really put the league on notice, and made everyone think that this offense was going to take off. Then, Week 1 happened, and the offensive line was destroyed by Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa.
Since then, they have been so much better. Honestly, it has been night and day, and it isn't really close. While they still aren't an amazing offensive line, they did go from the worst to the middle of the pack. Offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi
"Each week we try and do what's best for the team and you guys have seen kind of the same guys in the past couple of weeks and that comes back to practice, the consistency in practice," Lombardi said. "Whatever five guys we feel like give us the most consistent part of practice, those are the guys that are going to play. Each week is a new week, but we feel pretty strongly about the guys that are playing right now."
In game one the Raiders gave up six sacks. Five to Derek Carr, and one to Davante Adams. Against the Cardinals in Week 2, they gave up one sack. Against the Titans, they gave up one sack.
Against the Broncos, who have an elite pass rush, they allowed just two sacks. And, of course, last week they allowed the Chiefs to get two sacks.
It's pretty obvious the offensive line is getting better, and, I think the Raiders have found the right combination of players up front.
