Philadelphia Eagles trade targets trade deadline Brian Burns pass rush Carolina Panthers Scott Fitterer GM Howie Roseman update NFL football news

The Philadelphia Eagles appear to have lost out on a potential trade target with the NFL’s November 1 trade deadline less than two weeks away.

The Eagles have recently been involved in rumors surrounding the availability of Panthers defensive end Brian Burns as Carolina has found themselves in a fire sale of late.

On Friday, Carolina Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer addressed the trade rumors circulating about the team’s young core, which obviously includes the dynamic 24-year-old pass rusher.

“This isn’t a situation where we are trying to sell,” said Fitterer who has already dealt the team’s star RB Christian McCaffrey, along with starting WR Robbie Anderson this week.

He would go on to say that in return for one of the team’s rising stars, the Panthers would need “something astronomical.”

Burns is playing in his fourth season and has already tallied 29.5 sacks and one Pro Bowl appearance. His future is undoubtedly bright, but Eagles GM Howie Roseman might be reluctant to give up a king’s ransom for a player the team doesn’t desperately need.

Though every team could stand to benefit by adding a player like Burns, the Eagles aren’t exactly hard-pressed to force a deal at the deadline. Philadelphia is currently tied for seventh in the NFL with 17 sacks.

The Eagles don’t have many holes across its roster, but Roseman has been pushing all of the right buttons this year. Don’t be shocked if Philadelphia gets involved as the deadline draws nearer.
