The Philadelphia Eagles took advantage of the New Orleans Saints' roster situation on Tuesday and added a really good player to their roster.

According to multiple reports, the Eagles traded for Saints defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson on Tuesday morning.

Gardner-Johnson is a former fourth-round pick who was due for an extension in New Orleans.

Those extension talks, however, broke down. As a result, the Saints dealt Garnder-Johnson to the Eagles.

New Orleans has decent secondary depth, which allowed them to make this move.

Garnder-Johnson has mostly been used as a nickel cornerback in New Orleans. But according to NFL insider Tom Peliserro, he'll transition full-time to safety with the Eagles (which means it'll be a bit more expensive to extend him).

Philadelphia badly needed another safety and Garnder-Johnson is certainly a better option than signing any of the players released on Tuesday.

By the way, if you're an Eagles fan and you're wondering how to feel about this trade, just look at the reactions from Saints fans. They aren't fans of losing Garnder-Johnson.

One New Orleans fan, specifically, suggested that Gardner-Johnson would get a standing ovation if he returns to the Superdome as an opposing player.

The Eagles and the Saints play in week 17, but the game will take place in Philly.
