Tom Brady is set to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week after a pre-planned 10-day sabbatical.

And there's a decent chance he's questioning his decision to return.

Brady is returning to a team that is in rough shape at the moment.

Multiple players have gone down with injuries recently, including third-year offensive tackle Tristen Wirfs, who suffered an oblique injury during a joint practice with the Tennessee Titans this week.

Wirfs' injury could force him to miss time in the opening weeks of the regular season.

Buccaneers are dealing with an inordinate amount of injuries

The Bucs' list of injured players is concerning, to say the least.

If you're Brady, you can't be thrilled right now.

This is a 45-year-old quarterback that's returning this season to win a Super Bowl that we're talking about. He's not coming back for another season to grind it out with a bunch of backup players.

It would be completely understandable if we see a frustrated Brady return to practice next week.

Now, that's not to say that Brady is going to say "nah I didn't sign up for this" and suddenly retire again. I don't think he has that in him. He committed to returning and he'll be on the field this season as long as he's healthy.

But we could see a Brady that's noticeably irritated and annoyed — a Brady that doesn't play the game with the same joy and intensity that we're accustomed to seeing him play with.

If the Buccaneers can't get healthy, they're going to leave the door wide open for the New Orleans Saints to take the division. If that happens, there's no telling which version of Brady we'll see by the end of the season.
