Running the football hasn’t been the Miami Dolphins’ (8-5) preferred method of operation this season. That being said, one NFL analyst believes activating the run-game could take down the Buffalo Bills (10-3) on Saturday night.

The Dolphins enter this contest with the NFL’s 29th ranked rushing attack, averaging 89.8 yards per game. When playmakers such as Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are available in the passing game, it’s easy to see why Miami has leaned on its aerial attack.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is lauded for his offensive ingenuity. During his time in San Francisco, McDaniel’s creativity opened up the 49ers run-game, which piqued Miami’s interest in the hiring process.

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky believes that McDaniel should get back to his bread and butter on the road against Buffalo.

“Make this game about everybody but Tua Tagovailoa,” Orlovsky said on NFL Live.

“Remember, Mike McDaniel went to Miami and he was this renowned run-game design person. Time to show it. Run right at Buffalo’s nickel-corner Taron Johnson.”

Johnson, who Orlovsky highlighted on multiple occasions in the clip above, is clearly vulnerable in the ground game. Weighing at 192 pounds, Johnson’s strengths are not anchored in stopping the run.

This weekend is the perfect time for Miami to pick up momentum by pounding the rock. Tagovailoa has struggled as of late, and the forecast in Buffalo is calling for strong wind gusts accompanied by multiple inches of snowfall.

The Bills’ defense will be keying on Hill and Waddle, presenting the perfect opportunity for the Dolphins to catch them by surprise and run their way to victory.
