The Denver Broncos are on the verge of potentially striking gold or missing out on that golden opportunity.
The trade deadline is something that is hectic, especially this season. There are so many rumors that we all don't really know whether to believe or not. We don't know if Bradley Chubb will be traded o not, but everyone has an opinion on the situation.
I love Chubb as much as the next person, but I believe that if he doesn't get traded, the Broncos could miss out on a huge opportunity. In my opinion, it would be stupid not to trade him.
Chubb has been great this year. He is finally healthy, and it is showing as he has had one of his better seasons in a while, and has become a hot commodity.
There are a few teams in the rumor mill surrounding Chubb right now. The Miami Dolphins are one of the bigger ones. Dealing with rumors like that can be tough, but the veteran is handling it well.
"Bradley has been great," Hackett said on Tuesday. "He is a true pro, we love Bradley [Chubb], he has been great to get to know… when it comes to all the trade stuff, I let George [Paton] handle all that."
I think the Broncos should pull the trigger on the trade, and here is why.
The Broncos currently have no first or second-round picks next year, and trading Chubb could potentially get one of either of those. We still aren't sure yet what the market is for Chubb but I bet it's at least a second-rounder.
He is in his fifth year, which means if they didn't trade him, Chubb would either walk next year for nothing or Denver would give him a huge deal after just paying Wilson and Randy Gregory. That wouldn't be very smart.
And speaking of Gregory, that brings me to my next point. The Broncos don't need Chubb. Yeah, it is nice to have him, but when it comes to rushing the passer, they are fine in that department and have the potential to be better.
Barron Browning is banged up right now but has shown to be dominant when it comes to getting the passer. When he wasn't hurt, he didn't play as much as we would have liked because he was behind Gregory and Chubb.
The Broncos will still have Gregory, too. Oh, and one of their rookies this year is one of the best pass-rushing rookies in the league. Nik Bonnitto has the highest pass rush win rate of all defensive rookies at 20%, and he is behind the other three guys I already mentioned.
Chubb leaving gets the team more draft compensation, saves money, and frees up playing time for players who have shown they could be just as good if not better. To me, it's a no-brainer.
