The Denver Broncos lost the toughest game of their season so far. It has absolutely nothing to do with what game it was, or who the loss was to, but instead, how it happened.
It was all right there in front of them this game. They had improved last week on offense in a way, so initial thoughts were that they could have a coming-out party against a bad Colts defense.
That's not what all happened. In fact, they had a 'go back inside party,' because the offense was actually worse. This was the worst it has been all year.
No one is happy about this loss. The fans aren't. The coaches aren't, and the players definitely aren't. Captain Courtland Sutton had a message for his team, though, in order to let the fans and organization know that this doesn't defy them.
"Everything is still ahead of us. You know, we have three losses. Yeah, we are 2-3 right now, but everything is still ahead of us," Sutton told the media. "We have only played one divisional game so far.
"You know, all of our division games are still ahead of us, and like I said, we have a lot of season ahead of us. We can't sulk on this too long, we have to, you know, take it and move on, learn from it, and keep moving."
Sutton is right, and that is exactly why he is a captain this year. This doesn't mean the season is over. It's game five of 17, meaning there are still 12 games left to right the ship. And, from the way his response sounded, he believes this team can do it.
The excuse for the last few weeks has been that they have time to figure it out. However, they are running low on time, for sure. There are so many things on offense that need to be fixed in so little time. I understand the frustration.
But, hear Sutton out. They are still third in the division, with one division game played, and 12 games left in the season. It isn't over yet.
