Tennessee Vols defensive lineman Tyler Baron told reporters on Tuesday in Miami that he's not sure if he's returning to UT for the 2023 season.

Baron, a junior, could possibly enter the 2023 NFL Draft.

“It’s beyond easy [to not think about the NFL decision right now],” said Baron. “I’m just a very in the moment type of guy. I’m really worried about being down here with my teammates and helping everybody get this win. It’ll just be a great feeling to build off of.”

“I haven’t even nailed down the factors (for the NFL decision) yet, to be honest,” added Baron. “I’m really just focused on this game (against Clemson) if I can be honest with you.”

I would bet on Baron returning to Tennessee in 2023. If he declares for the 2023 NFL Draft, there's a decent chance he goes undrafted.

Statistically, Baron took a step back in 2022, totaling just 2.5 sacks after compiling 4.0 sacks as a sophomore in 2021.

Baron has NFL potential. And he has the potential to be a star pass rusher in the SEC (he got pressure on quarterbacks throughout the season, but couldn't finish off the play in many instances due to the quarterback getting a pass off just before getting hit). He just needs to become more consistent.

If Baron returns, he'd once again play a key role in the Vols' defense while also boosting his draft stock. It should be an easy decision for the Knoxville native.
