Former Tennessee Vols defensive back Theo Jackson was released by the Titans on Tuesday as part of the team's final round of roster cuts.

On Wednesday, Jackson cleared waivers. He was signed to the Titans' practice squad.

Jackson, a sixth-round pick by Tennessee in the 2022 NFL Draft, had a solid training camp, so it was a bit of a surprise to see the former Vols standout released on Tuesday. Especially since the Titans seem to be high on Jackson.

Sneaking Jackson onto the practice squad was always the plan. And fortunately for Tennessee, Jackson went unclaimed — likely because other teams just didn't have room for the talented defender.

Now that Jackson is on the Titans' practice squad, it wouldn't be a surprise if he eventually sees some action for Tennessee this season. Injuries are inevitable and there's a great chance that Jackson will be needed at some point.
