When Tennessee Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt was asked on Friday about how much football he's going over with his players during the shutdown, his response was quick and to the point.

"We're doing very little (football)", said Pruitt during a video teleconference on Friday.

Instead, Pruitt is making sure his players are focused on academics and taking care of their online school work.

"We know exactly what they are supposed to get done every day academically. We follow up and make sure there are not any issues because we have guys all over the country", said Pruitt when explaining what he and his staff's days look like in this "new normal".

"We still have a schedule everyday for each individual player when it comes to their class work and their tutors…..Our staff has been there daily to help support that."

Of course, that doesn't mean there's no football talk at all happening. Pruitt mentioned that the team was able to do "a little football" this past week, adding that it was probably good for the players to experience a little bit of "normalcy" (if that's even a thing right now).

For now, Pruitt doesn't want to speculate on when the 2020 season might start, simply saying "whenever that time comes, we’ll be ready at Tennessee".

Pruitt added "we’re going to do everything that we can to support the rules and regulations that our university puts in place, that our city puts in place, our state, our federal government".

These are certainly strange times for the entire world. Everyone, for the most part, is in the same boat. Stuck at home and not-so-patiently waiting for things to return to normal.

Hopefully normal returns sooner rather than later.
