Hogan, 6-foot-4/190 lbs from Grapevine, TX, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 40 player in the state of Texas and the No. 13 pro-style quarterback in the nation.

The Texas native committed to Iowa this past June.

Hogan, who also has offers from Baylor, Colorado, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Syracuse, among several others, is a pure pocket passer. He has rushed for -169 yards during his high school career. But he has a quick release and he throws darts, as you can see in the highlight video above.

The Vols signed three-star quarterback Brian Maurer this past December, and they have a commitment from four-star 2020 quarterback Harrison Bailey (the No. 3 pro-style quarterback in the nation).

Perhaps Tennessee is simply recruiting Hogan as insurance. Sometimes it's best to sign several quarterbacks and let the best man win the job.
