File this one under shade I didn't expect to see this weekend.
Or perhaps ever.
Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Von Pearson took to Twitter on Saturday afternoon to lob some shade at Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston.
The tweets came during the Buccaneers' matchup against the Houston Texans. Winston started the game with two interceptions.
After the interceptions, Pearson cryptically tweeted "That's why I chose Tennessee over Florida State".
Pearson followed that up by tweeting that former Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs is better than Winston.
Pearson signed with Tennessee after Winston won the Heisman Trophy and BCS Championship with Florida State in 2013.
In 2014, Winston took Florida State to the College Football Playoff, but Florida State lost to Oregon. Winston was then selected with the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Dobbs was a great player at Tennessee. He undoubtedly carried the program during the Butch Jones years. But Winston has certainly had the more decorated football career.
Pearson, by the way, caught 76 passes for 802 yards and eight touchdowns during his two seasons at Tennessee. Justin Worley was the starting quarterback throwing to Pearson during the first part of the 2014 season, before Dobbs eventually took over.
I'm sure there are plenty of reasons why Pearson signed with Tennessee over Florida State. But insinuating that Winston wouldn't have been good for Pearson's career seems a bit silly. Winston clearly raised the play of those around him during his time with the Seminoles.
