Austin Smith, who will be a redshirt senior in 2019, is the latest player who could be on his way out of Tennessee.
Smith only appeared in four games for the Volunteers last season. With more talent on the way to Rocky Top, it's clear he likely wouldn't see much action for Tennessee in 2019.
Drew Richmond and Eli Wolf are also candidates to potentially transfer (they're both in the NCAA transfer portal). Richmond, a highly touted offensive lineman who hasn't lived up to the lofty expectations placed on him as a high school recruit, has reportedly garnered interest from Ohio State and Texas.
Transfers are bound to happen — especially with players that aren't expected to be big factors at a school. Richmond was a starter last season, but there's a great chance he loses his spot to someone like Wanya Morris (who signed with UT in December) or Darnell Wright (one of the Vols' top remaining 2019 recruiting targets).
So far, none of Tennessee's potential transfers are a big surprise. Nor should they have much of an effect on the program.
