Denver Broncos, AFC West

It's that time of year again. The time of the year when the NFL Top 100 ranking comes out, and everyone is snubbed of a higher spot. Recently, the Denver Broncos were part of that discussion.

Justin Simmons at 81 is just atrocious, especially considering he was ranked 45th last year. Russell Wilson was ranked 12th last season, and 61 this season. seeing that makes me want to puke.

And that's just for the Broncos, so think about all the other fans of teams that are being snubbed, and what they think.

Then again, these are voted on by the players, so we're told.

The AFC West is stacked this season, we all know that. But with these lists, the Broncos seem to be left behind a bit when it comes to having some of the best players in the league.

The Broncos have no top-30 players on the Top 100 list

The AFC West is likely going to be the hardest division in all of the league. Every one of these teams is vying for playoff spots, and three of them could potentially make it.

However, the Broncos are being left behind when it comes to star power. Yeah, they have the polarizing star in Russell Wilson, and Justin Simmons is very good, but they don't have as many of those guys as the other teams.

This league isn't like the NBA, where star power matters, and one superstar could win a game basically on his own, but having stars does matter, and the Broncos are lacking that when compared to the other teams.

They are the only team in the division to not have a player in the top 30 of the Top 100 list.

The Chiefs have two players in the top 10 in Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. The Raiders have Davante Adams at seven, and Waller and Crosby in the top 60.

The Chargers have Bosa at 30 and Ekler, James, Allen, and Herbert all in the top 50. Meanwhile, the Broncos' highest player is at 61 in Wilson, and Simmons is the only other Broncos on the list.

Does this matter? More than you would think.

Now, the players may tell you they don't care about these types of things, but they do. Why is it that they don't care about a ranking, but every time Madden comes out, their rating should be higher?

These can get in players' heads, and really make them, overthink their play, especially when the list is wrong. That's not the main reason we are here, though.

The Broncos need more stars if they want to consistently contend for the Super Bowl. There is a reason all of the national media is basically picking the Broncos to finish last in the division.

Next offseason, I'd like to see them make some more moves. I'd like to see them make moves that will make them contenders for longer than just a season.

They are behind the rest of the AFC West when it comes to that. Wilson alone cannot win this team a franchise. The Broncos need to go get some star-caliber players or develop their current ones into stars.
