Pro Football Focus writer Ben Kinsey recently took a shot naming the three best players on the Dallas Cowboys' roster in 2022.

Kinsey went with offensive lineman Zack Martin, linebacker Micah Parsons, and left tackle Tyron Smith as the Cowboys' three best players.

From PFF:

Martin and Smith — two of the best players at their respective positions — are the constants in a re-shuffling Cowboys offensive line. They rank first and fourth respectively in PFF’s Wins Above Replacement (WAR) metric at their position since Martin entered the league in 2014.

Parsons doesn’t have that same extended track record of elite play, but he showed in his rookie season that he’s already one of the most impactful defensive players in the NFL. He was PFF’s highest-graded off-ball linebacker in 2021 while also beating offensive tackles consistently when Dallas asked him to rush off the edge.

There's no doubt that the three players that Kinsey picked are great, but his decision to not include quarterback Dak Prescott is questionable at best.

Prescott is easily one of the most underrated players in the NFL. Without Prescott on the roster, the rest of the Cowboys' team doesn't matter. Prescott is the reason this team has a chance to reach the Super Bowl this upcoming season. And when a player is that important to a team's success, I think he has to be considered one of the best players on the roster.

It's all about the quarterback in the NFL. Teams rarely find success without an elite signal-caller. Fortunately for the Cowboys, they have one of the best in the league — even though Prescott has received plenty of criticism from the national media over the last several years.
