The Kansas City Chiefs and safety Justin Reid agreed to terms this week on a three-year contract worth $31.5 million.
Reid can officially sign the contract on Wednesday afternoon when the new NFL league year begins.
Kansas City is signing Reid to replace three-time Pro-Bowl safety Tyrann Mathieu.
The Honey Badger was the heart and soul of the Chiefs' defense the past few seasons. But with Kansas City already working on extensions for offensive lineman Orlando Brown and wide receiver Tyreek Hill, it just wasn't going to be possible for the Chiefs to Keep Mathieu.
Kansas City's deal for Reid is around $5 million a year cheaper than a new deal for Mathieu likely would've cost.

On Tuesday, Reid spoke with Fox 26 Houston and he had a great reaction to joining the Chiefs.
Specifically, Reid is happy he won't have to play against Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes anymore.
"It'll be a lot more fun playing with him (Mahomes) than against him," said Reid. "That's for sure."
"When the details got worked out, it was a very easy yes," added Reid. "I'm so excited to get down there, start getting involved in the community, learning the football playbook, and doing my part to make an impact and help the Chiefs win another Super Bowl."
One thing that stuck out about Reid's comments was his mention of getting involved in the community.
Reid, like Mathieu, is from Louisiana and makes community outreach an important part of his life in the NFL.
Last year, Reid helped raise $10,000 for Louisiana after Hurricane Ida. He also filled two 18-wheelers with food and supplies to send in relief.
That tells us the Chiefs are getting a great person and a great leader in Reid, who will look to fill the massive shoes left behind by Mathieu.
