It's no secret that the Kansas City Chiefs need to improve their pass rush this offseason.

The Chiefs only sacked Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow once in the AFC Championship game. He was asked 19 times total in the playoffs. The Cheifs should've teed off on Burrow.

I know the Chiefs' second-half offense has received a lot of blame for the loss to the Bengals, but the ineffective pass rush was the real reason Kansas City didn't reach the Super Bowl this past season.

One way to improve the pass rush this offseason would be to make a major trade for a premier pass rusher.

Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Danielle Hunter is one who is reportedly available via trade this offseason.

Hunter, a former LSU standout, is due an $18 million roster bonus on March 20, which is one reason the Vikings are shopping him.

I think the Chiefs need to at least make a phone call here. Hunter has only played seven games the last two seasons (he missed all of 2020 with neck issues). His price should be lower than it was two years ago when he was coming off back-to-back 14.5 sack seasons.

Hunter is an elite pass rusher when healthy. And prior to 2020, he had played in all 16 games in four straight seasons. A neck injury and a torn pectoral muscle are two freak injuries. I think he'd be worth the gamble.

The Chiefs have to deal with Justin Herbert, Derek Carr, and Russell Wilson twice a year each. They need to have strong pass rushers. Hunter would instantly give the Chiefs a pass rusher who could have a massive impact on divisional games.

If the price is right, Kansas City should make a run at Hunter. I'm sure the Vikings would love to ship him out of the NFC, anyway.
