The Denver Broncos won their second game of the season over the San Francisco 49ers and now stand at 2-1 on the year, sitting in second place in the AFC West.

This team has already been through so much in just three weeks of football, including the adversity they faced in the offseason. In training camp, we saw several players get hurt, including receiver Tim Patrick.

While the offense was still struggling, as they have since the season started, the defense wasn't. They picked things up right where they left off.

It was truly a masterpiece, the game the defense put together, as they showed they were one of the best in the league. Head coach Nathaniel Hackett was proud, too. But he was also proud of special teams.

"They were outstanding, I mean the safety was unbelievable, Chubb [Bradley] actually getting that interception was great, too. I wish he hadn't stepped out on that one," Hackett told reporters after the game. "It was awesome, it really just started watching Corliss [Waitman], punting that ball back there and pinning them back continually throughout the game, which then gave them such a long field.

"The defense did great getting them into some pass situations, and that's when they came to life, and I thought it was just a great performance, our coaching staff did such a great job, along with those guys buying into everything we want to do so I thought it was beautiful."

The one thing to take away from this was how good the special teams were. Everyone will be praising the defense, and rightfully so. They showed up and balled out. However, Waitman showed he is one of the best punters in the league on Sunday Night Football, in front of the whole country.

Waitman had 10 total punts, which isn't good. No one wants to see that volume from their punter. However, what he did in those punts was amazing.

According to ESPN stats, Waitman totaled 476 yards through the air by way of punts. He averaged 47.6 yards per punt and did not have a single touchback. He also had six punts inside the 20-yard line, and several inside the 10. His longest was 57 yards.

The special teams need a shout-out, for sure. The defense showed up, but let's show some love to the side of the ball that doesn't get much. Now, all they need is to get the offense rolling, and they could be one of the best teams in the NFL. Good thing there are still 14 more games to go.
