The Denver Broncos dealt with what no team wants to encounter during the preseason when they watched one of their top linebackers in Jonas Griffith leave Saturday's opener against the Dallas Cowboys with an injury.

And as it turns out, they'll be without him for some time. It was reported Sunday that Griffith dislocated his elbow and will be out around 4-6 weeks, leaving the Broncos with a big hole in their starting lineup.

With that situation, the Broncos decided to sign Pro Bowl linebacker Joe Schobert, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Schobert can be of great help to the Broncos, as he has been to the teams he has been on the last six years.

He started 49 total games in Cleveland and racked up over 400 tackles, six interceptions, 20 pass deflections, and seven forced fumbles in those four seasons. His Pro Bowl season was in 2017, where he recorded an NFL-high 144 total tackles.

Schobert then moved on to Jacksonville in 2020 where he started 16 games in one season and finished with 2.5 sacks, 144 tackles, four pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.

Last season, Schobert played for Pittsburgh and started 15 games, so you know he still has enough juice to be a starting caliber linebacker for a good team.

Schobert is a great pickup for the Broncos after the injury. Hopefully we can see him get back to the Pro Bowl level he was at in 2017.
