For the first time in three years, the Kansas City Chiefs won't be playing in a Super Bowl in February.
Kansas City lost 27-24 in overtime to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship game on Sunday.
It was a bitter end to a trying season that saw the Chiefs start 3-4 only to finish 12-5 with an AFC West division title crown.
After the loss, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a message for Kansas City fans.

That message goes along with Mahomes' post-game comments.
"Anything less than that (a Super Bowl win) is not success…we'll go back and try to learn from the mistakes we made to be better next year," said Mahomes.
Mahomes and the Chiefs will have plenty to prove in 2022 after coming up short this season.
