A little over a month ago, the Dallas Cowboys were blown out of the playoffs in humiliating fashion by the Green Bay Packers.
The dust has settled, staff changes have been made and many of the fans have turned their attention to the off-season, and how the Cowboys can get better.
If you're a fan of the Cowboys, you know that star pass rusher, Micah Parsons isn't shy about letting his voice be heard.
In fact, he has his own podcast, in which he discusses the biggest headlines, debates the hottest takes, and more. This week, as is a large majority of sports media, Micah is in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII.
Micah sat down with Packers quarterback Jordan Love at media row, the quarterback of the team that beat them in the playoffs.
Parsons asked Love to explain the Packers' strategy, how they broke down their defense and figured out how to have their way with them. Love would confirm what several analysts have been saying since the game ended. You can watch the clip below.
Love would go on to say that they knew they needed to run the ball. He would mention our linebackers.
"I'm not trying to talk, but y'all had a defensive back playing linebacker," said Love almost with a confused expression on his face.
This is a problem with the Dan Quinn scheme we've discussed earlier. Quinn had an affinity for athletes, so he tended to look past normal height and weight thresholds and favor athletes.
If they were going to rely on this strategy, they need big defensive tackles to clog up run lanes so the smaller linebacker can flow to the ball with less traffic. But they spent a first-round pick on this type of player when they took Mazi Smith in the first round and then had him lose weight so he could rush the passer.
As we have already said, this is malpractice, and you're inviting teams to run all over you.
"That was our goal, to be able to run the ball and it was going to set everything else up," Love said.
Fans can only hope that new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, comes in and one of the first things he does is work with Mazi t put the weight back on.
