We are a couple of months away from the NFL Draft with the Super Bowl yet to be played.
Still, we’re getting into that mode for draft season and even free agency. Teams are working hard on their boards and the Senior Bowl just took place.
With that being said, Cleveland Browns fans are going to be excited about the player that Cleveland drafts in the latest NFL mock draft at A to Z Sports.
With pick No. 55 in the draft, our very own Destin Adams has the Browns selecting Georgia S Javon Bullard. It is a best player available pick for Cleveland.
“When you don't have a first-round pick, it makes it significantly harder to add day-one impact players. And with the Browns coming off a playoff birth, that's exactly what they will be looking to do. With their only pick in this mock coming in the second round, I have them selecting Georiga safety Javon Bullard. I think this safety class has a ton of talent, and with none being drafted in the first round of this mock, it gives the Browns the chance to add a potential day-one starter in Bullard. Bullard has shown ability in both the pass and run game, and projects best as a FS at the next level.” – Destin Adams A to Z Sports
The Browns will have to try to find talent later in the draft once again this year, as it is the final first-round pick that they will have to pay the Houston Texans in the Deshaun Watson trade.
Bullard very well could take the place of Juan Thornhill in a couple of seasons. It would allow Cleveland to move on from the contract that Thornhill has and replace it with a four year rookie deal. Ideally, Bullard is depth in 2024 before taking over in 2025. At that point, the Browns have a safety room consisting of Grant Delpit, Ronnie Hickman, Bullard, and another free agent or draft pick. In this example, the team has moved on from both Thornhill and D’Anthony Bell by 2025.
At Georgia, Bullard made two interceptions each of the last two seasons and compiled 102 tackles during that time. Bullard had 3.5 sacks as a freshman.
Expect many more takes to be given on what the Browns should do with their second round pick in April’s draft. Keep in mind, the Browns decided to trade their second round selection to the New York Jets last season for WR Elijah Moore.
Browns may have to enter unfamiliar territory to play an NFL game in 2024
We’ll see if they have to.
