Patrick Mahomes is already being considered by some to be the greatest quarterback of all time – even if others have to remind those prisoners of the moment that Tom Brady exists.
However, there's very little doubt that fans are watching one of the greatest to ever play the game as the Chiefs' quarterback reached his fourth Super Bowl in five years, with two Super Bowl rings already on his fingers. As such, what Mahomes says and does carries a lot of weight and garners a lot of attention.
And two former Dolphins managed to join a very impressive club put together by Mahomes himself on the opening night of Super Bowl festivities on Monday. Mahomes was being interviewed by a young fan and self-proclaimed local journalist – 11-year-old Jeremiah, as he introduced himself – and he and Mahomes got into a discussion of who their all-time fantasy teams would be.
The discussion quickly turned to wide receivers, and after taking Randy Moss and thinking for a second, he took a name he's very familiar with: Tyreek Hill.
That probably shouldn't be too terribly surprising, given that the duo worked extremely well together and won Super Bowl LIV. However, considering that Mahomes and Jeremiah were considering both former and current players, that speaks pretty high volumes as far as Mahomes' level of respect for his former #1 receiver.
Later on, Mahomes took as one of his linebackers Hall of Famer and Dolphins legend Zach Thomas. Perhaps not a total shock considering both Mahomes and Thomas starred at Texas Tech, but it's still shows the respect that players around the league – both past and modern – have for the former star of Miami's defense.
It might be just an exercise in fantasy, but it's still one that demonstrates how impactful and great one current and one former Dolphin have been in the NFL.
