After needing life-saving procedures following his collapse on the field last season in Cincinnati, Hamlin inspired countless people around the world with his recovery, and his road back to football.
His strength and bravery has been recognized by the Pro Football Writers of America, who voted Hamlin as the Comeback Player of the Year.
Hamlin is a candidate for the AP NFL Comeback Player of the Year, which he is expected to also win. This has sparked some controversy amongst NFL fans who have argued that Joe Flacco and Baker Mayfield are more deserving for their respective seasons. That said, it goes without say that Hamlin's road to getting back on the football field is much larger than two players who went from playing poorly to playing well.
The winner of the award will be announced during the NFL Honors show on Thursday, February 8th.
