24-year-old San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy aka, "Mr. Irrelevant," is heading to the Super Bowl after beating the Detroit Lions, 34-31, in the NFC Championship.

Purdy's mom, Carrie, shared her reaction to her son's big win and a whole lot of love for San Francisco after the game.

"It's unbelievable," Mrs. Purdy told ABC10's Kevin John. "The story has been fun. The fans have been amazing. San Francisco is awesome. And the Iowa State coaching staff, I mean everyone there got him prepared for the draft and to get where he is today. We're a loving supportive family and we'll go travel for him and all of our kids and I just feel blessed. It's our second year and here we are, we're going to the Super Bowl."

Purdy completed 20 of 31 pass attempts for 267 yards and a touchdown with one interception in the win.

"It's amazing," Mama Purdy continued. "He just turned 24 years old and you know what, not because he's mine, but he's a humble, down-to-earth, kind person. He loves the lord, he loves the fans, he loves his coaches. He's just this great kid that loves everybody around him."

Many critics doubted Purdy coming out of Iowa State, but he never doubted himself.

"He's always loved football," Purdy's mom said. "And he's just one of those kids where you're like, 'Hey, Brock, what are you going to do if you don't have a backup plan?' He's like, 'Mom, I'm going to play football.'

"And the day of the draft — a lot of people don't know this — but he was mad at me because he goes, 'Mom, I might go free agent I might not get drafted.' And I go, 'But what if you do get drafted? I'm going to have a party. The whole town and the whole state knows. If you get drafted and whoever wants to bring food … we're going to celebrate. And if you don't, nobody is going to come.'"

Purdy was selected with the final pick (262nd overall) by San Francisco in the 2022 NFL Draft.

"And sure enough, he was the last pick and within thirty minutes I had 150 people at our house because he's a small-town boy and he got drafted," Mrs. Purdy said. "So it didn't matter, first or last or whatever."

As Brock's mom, Mrs. Purdy has experienced several incredible moments alongside her son, but where does this one rank among all of them?

"Top-5," she said. "His goal was to play football and now he's going to the Super Bowl."
