The Las Vegas Raiders could be making a big mistake if they end up hiring someone they are soon to interview for their vacant offensive coordinator job.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Raiders plan to interview former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy for their offensive coordinator job this week.
After hiring Antonio Pierce, most of the offensive staff was let go. Now, they have to find who will be the offensive coordinator. Luke Getsy, if they decide to go that route, it would be a mistake, in my opinion.
Getsy was the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears for the last two seasons. Last year, the Bears finished averaging 21 points per game, one more point than the Raiders did, whose offense is about as poor as it gets.
In 2022, the Bears were even worse, averaging 19 points per game, according to ESPN Stats.
The only way I could see this hire is positive is that the Bears ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in rushing, respectively, and the Raiders have one of the better running backs in the league in Josh Jacobs. Well, he's set to be a free agent, but with the assumption he will be back, it would be great for him.
Then again, you have guys like Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and Tre Tucker on your team who would benefit from a pass-dominant offense. It's certainly something to think about.
