Mark Andrews took the field for the Baltimore Ravens' first practice session of the week on Tuesday. Andrews ended up being a limited participant on the day.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh kept a close watch on Andrews throughout practice, and he came away impressed with the outing from the veteran tight end.
"Today was his best showing so far," Harbaugh said during a press conference on Tuesday. "He really took a big step."
Harbaugh was asked during his press conference on Tuesday about the possibility of Andrews being cleared to play in Baltimore’s upcoming playoff opener against the Houston Texans. The longtime head coach kept it simple with his response.
"We'll just have to see how it goes," Harbaugh said.
Andrews was designated to return from injured reserve on Friday, which came eight weeks after he suffered a reported cracked fibula and ankle ligament injury during the Ravens’ home matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals in November. He sustained the ailments after being on the end of a hip-drop tackle from Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson during the first quarter of the divisional game.
If the Ravens decide not to activate Andrews off injured reserve before their home clash with the Texans, then Isaiah Likely will be called on to start out at the tight end position in the contest. Likely recorded 30 receptions for 411 receiving yards and five touchdown catches during the regular season.
Ravens get massive Zay Flowers injury update ahead of playoff clash vs. Texans
