The rest of the NFL seems to be sending a message to Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson entering 2026
It sure seems like the rest of the NFL is fading Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson going into 2026.
The Baltimore Ravens and quarterback Lamar Jackson have spent time this offseason talking about a new contract. As quarterback prices and the salary cap have surged, it has left Lamar’s contract with the team falling off the pace among top signal callers across the league.
But there’s no sign of progress between the two parties as we creep towards the doorstep of training camp. Lamar is still set to play this season on his current deal — with the team having restructured his compensation to open up cap space and survive the season. And now, the rest of the NFL appears to be sending a message that could make life even harder for Jackson to proactively get that next big deal.
Both the NFL 100 and an ESPN poll of league personnel seem to be fading Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson
It certainly feels like the NFL world is fading Lamar Jackson entering into the 2026 season. His peers voted him as the 69th best player in the league for this upcoming season in the annual NFL Top 100. This set of rankings is voted on exclusively by active NFL players. Jackson fell from No. 2 overall last summer, a drastic fall of 67 spots.
But that’s just the tip of the spear today. ESPN’s Jermey Fowler also conducted his own poll that released the top-10 voted quarterbacks in the NFL. The poll is comprised of NFL scouts, coaches, and executives. Sure,Jackson got his due as the No. 5 ranked quarterback on the list. But at least one person polled by Fowler left him off of their top-10 quarterbacks list altogether.
It seems the NFL world’s stock is as down on Lamar Jackson as it has been since, well…ever. Or at least since Bill Polian once suggested he should play wide receiver in the pre-draft process. Given the injuries he’s coming off of from last season, plus teeing up for the ripe age of 30 this winter, Jackson’s got some doubt stacking up against him. How he handles it will be fascinating to watch unfold. And, if he does indeed answer the call, any apprehension about that new deal for Jackson from the Ravens should melt away in no time at all.
