After rumors circulated about Mike Tomlin potentially taking time off from coaching, the future Hall of Fame HC put an end to the noise.
First via a team meeting and then in his season-ending presser, Tomlin confirmed he will be back next season.
But according to owner and team president Art Rooney II, 2024 is far from the last year for Tomlin in Pittsburgh:
Extension Time
“I would imagine those contract things are going to run their course,” Tomlin told the media during Thursday's season-ending presser. “Art and I have a really good, transparent relationship. We communicate continually often. I don’t imagine this is going to be an issue and I imagine it’s going to get done in a timely manner at the appropriate time. My mindset is to coach this football team.”
So despite all the fodder surrounding Tomlin, the Steelers, and the future of the HC position for the black and gold, it seems things will be status quo in 2024 and beyond, with Pittsburgh aiming to get back to their ultimate goal of hosting the Lombardi trophy.
